Hapatec stainless decking screw for hardwood.

Hapatec in stainless is a panel fastener for hardwood. Hardened stainless steel gives a 60 % higher breaking torque than A2 and A4, so it takes woods in which an ordinary stainless screw shears before it seats.

One limitation worth knowing before you buy. Hardened stainless has limited corrosion resistance and is not acid-resistant. The manufacturer cites ten years of practice without corrosion problems - but on woods suited to this screw.

Not suitable for woods high in tannins such as cumaru, oak, merbau or robinia. Nor for chlorine-bearing atmospheres, which in practice means poolside. Use an acid-resistant A4 screw there.

Sizes: 4.0 mm with TX 15, 4.5 mm with TX 20 and 5.0 mm with TX 25, lengths 30 to 100 mm. Hardened stainless can be magnetised, which helps when working one-handed.
